Installation Guide

Liberty KJ Front Diff Bushings

2002-2007 Jeep Liberty (KJ)

DrivetrainModerate

Installation is straightforward, but note that one pair of bushings is slightly different and is marked "(SM)" on the bushing flange. Identify them before starting.

Removing OEM Bushings

Three of the four OEM bushings need to be removed completely. The fourth requires the OEM bushing's outer housing to be left in the bracket — cut the rubber close to the housing without damaging it, then remove all remaining rubber so the polyurethane pair can be pressed in.

Pressing the bushings out is generally the quickest method. See the PDF for a labeled diagram showing which bushing keeps its outer housing.

Installing the New Bushings

  1. Press each polyurethane bushing fully into its housing by hand (without the anodized aluminum tube). The flange must touch the housing.
  2. Lightly grease the aluminum tube and the inside of each bushing with the supplied grease.
  3. Press the tubes into the bushings. They are intentionally a slight press fit — use a rubber mallet or slide clamp if needed.
