AMG Subframe Bushings (W211/W219/R230)
Mercedes-Benz AMG W211, W219, R230
SuspensionAdvanced
Verify your kit contents before starting: subframe bushings, zinc plates, bolts/washers, and the bushing removal tool set. Start with the fuel tank at 1/4 full or less to make installation easier. Do one side of the car at a time, starting with the passenger side.
Removal — Passenger Side
- Raise the vehicle and remove the passenger wheel and plastic fender liner.
- Remove the plastic rocker-panel guard under the car.
- Remove the passenger outside bolt of the fuel tank strap so the tank can sag slightly.
- Remove both subframe bolts on the passenger side.
- Set up the supplied tool on the rear bushing as shown in the PDF. Turn the bottom nut while holding the top nut until the bushing comes out. DO NOT use an impact — it can damage the threads.
Front Bushing
- Ensure the washer is between the nut and the bearing.
- Unclip wires from the subframe.
- On the passenger side with ≤1/4 tank: remove the upper hose clamp on the fuel filler neck. With more than 1/4 tank, remove the bolts holding the metal filler section to the inner fender.
- The front bushing is stubborn. We include a spare nut in case the first strips. Turn the nut until tight, wait several seconds (the bushing creeps out), then turn again. Repeat until removed.
Installing the Polyurethane Bushings
- Bushings are packaged in their installed orientation and labeled on the flange — "rear upper", "rear lower", "front upper", "front lower".
- Grease the center tubes before pressing them into the bushings. The anodized center tubes are bored for the locating pin from the body.
- Use the larger zinc plates in the rear and the smaller plates in the front.
- Install bolts with the zinc plates touching the bushings and a lock washer on each bolt.
- Torque the subframe bushing bolts to 130 Nm (~95 ft-lbs).
- Reassemble the gas tank hose, strap, wiring, plastic guards, and wheel in reverse order.
- Repeat the process on the driver side (no fuel filler neck to deal with, but you still need to release the outer fuel tank strap bolt).
