04-07 CTS-V Front Diff Bushing

2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V

DrivetrainAdvanced

Remove three 21mm bolts to drop the differential enough to access the OEM bushing on the front (passenger side). Lower the exhaust at a connection point before the diff (or release it from the rubber hangers near the bumper) and support the diff weight with a floor jack.

Tools Needed

  • 21mm wrench
  • Two 3/4" wrenches
  • Floor jack to support the differential

Removing the Old Bushing

Two of the three bolts (long bolts) only need to be unthreaded from the differential — leave them in their bushings. The third bolt is in the bushing being replaced. Once the bolts are out, gently lower the diff until it rests on the axles.

Assemble the supplied tool with the FLAT sides of the blue and yellow ring pieces against the green bearings. Use two 3/4" wrenches. Turn the wrenches and the old bushing will pull into the piece with the blue ring.

Installing the New Bushing

Important: place the bushing in the differential with the red lines horizontal. DO NOT install if the bushing slides in by hand.

Reassemble the tool with the FLAT sides of the orange and red ring pieces against the green bearings. Use two 3/4" wrenches and turn until the bushing is fully pressed in.
